Monday Morning Motivation | So Called Miracles

A Moment of Clarity from January 18, 2016:
The miracle is in the patient, not in the adjustment.
Granted, without the adjustment the miracle is less likely. However, there are many so-called “miracles” that occur without adjustments.
The notion that adjustments produce miracles is just as off base as the belief that adjustments are responsible for relief.
This and similar beliefs overlook 1) who’s doing the healing and 2) how healing actually occurs.
Taking credit for normalizing spinal biomechanics that reduce nervous system interference is yours if you want it. But only take the credit with the recognition that if you do, you must also take the blame when your precisely delivered and well-intentioned adjustments don’t produce the effect that both you and the patient want.
It’s tempting to make the intervention the hero. That’s where most patients live. But don’t fall for it.
The real hero is in their ability to heal—if there isn’t any interference.
