In 1999, when email was king and social media didn’t exist, I realized something pivotal: Patient Media wasn’t just about providing patient education materials—it was about helping chiropractors thrive. But how could I make that vision come alive?
The answer was Monday Morning Motivation, a brief, powerful email sent every Monday to inspire chiropractors to reconnect with their mission and engage their patients with confidence.
Why Email? The Digital Asset You Actually Own
Even today, my email subscriber list is one of my most valuable assets. These are people who’ve given me permission to show up in their inbox every week.
And here’s the key: Your email list—and patient mobile numbers—are the only digital assets you truly own. Every social platform owns your content and could revoke your access to it at any time. But email? That’s yours to build, nurture, and grow.
Where Does the Content Come From?
Many chiropractors ask, “How do you come up with new topics every week?”
The truth is, inspiration comes naturally when you’re immersed in the world of chiropractic. My ideas often come from:
• One-on-one consultations with chiropractors.
• Questions from speaking events.
• Emails and feedback from chiropractors across the globe.
Each message is written months in advance, allowing me to review them with fresh eyes before they’re sent. Sometimes I toss out a draft and replace it with something more timely or relevant.
The Power of 150 Words
Another frequent question is, “Why limit the emails to 150 words?”
Here’s why:
- Focus: A word limit forces me to be concise and impactful.
- Readership: Predictably short emails enjoy higher open rates.
- Convenience: You're busy, and a short email respects your time.
Fun fact: 150 words is the length of a typical 60-second radio commercial, designed to grab attention and leave a lasting impression.
Why Monday Morning?
The alliteration of “Monday Morning Motivation” made it memorable, but it’s also about timing. After the weekend, Mondays are a fresh start—an opportunity to refocus and reconnect with your mission.
And even though the email is sent Sunday afternoon (Mountain Time), it’s already Monday in Australia and New Zealand, allowing our global chiropractic community to begin their week on a high note.
