#2 of 13 ways of being that patients find attractive is being caring.
You may have heard the chiropractic cliché that 'patients don't care how much you know until they know how much you care.' It's true.
Up to a point.
Most chiropractors care too much. They imagine that if they get emotionally invested in a patient's health (often more than the patient is) patients will more likely follow their recommendations, appropriately value their health and produce better outcomes.
The reverse is often true.
When you care so much, many patients figure that they can direct their attention to other matters since you're carrying the burden.
But there's a dark side. When you care too much, patients are less likely to announce their last visit, discontinue care without a thank you and goodbye and worse, think you're angry with them for not measuring up.
