#4 of 13 ways of being that patients find attractive is being authentic.
Many of us are guilty of showing up as a persona or proxy rather than ourselves. The younger generation calls it posing. It's the surest way of being found out as an imposter; a fake.
This can be a defense mechanism as well as a form of social bluffing.
Bluffing? Sure. If you show up with patients assuming the role of a traditional doctor, you are attempting to use a form of social authority to compel patients to follow your recommendations. While justified as being in the patient's best interests, this persona actually contradicts the chiropractic worldview that the patient is the doctor!
Another common chiropractic persona is "The fixer."
Instead, when you show up as your authentic self, equipped with the knowledge and skill set helpful for patients, you are your most powerful. No acting required.
