Monday Morning Motivation | To or With?

Will your chiropractic adjustments be something that you do to a patient? Or with a patient?
To – The medical model, with which most are familiar, has trained patients to be passive—trusting the drug, surgery, or intervention to do the work. Lip service is paid to lifestyle modification, but for the most part, patients submit to the “treatment” with as little participation as possible.
It’s just one reason patients think you control the speed of their recovery.
When you make the adjustment the hero, rather than the self-healing capacity of their body, you may further reinforce this passive role.
With – The wellness model encourages a partnership between patient and practitioner. As the burden for recovery is more equally shared and patients play a more active role, enjoy greater patient satisfaction, less stress, and a more joyful experience for everyone.
Part of patient leadership is to provide suggestions for their participation.
