Monday Morning Motivation | The Dopamine Hit

Posted by Bill Esteb on Jan 10th 2020

It must be an incredible feeling when you rescue a patient from the pain and hopelessness that they had when they began care. Maybe even addictive.

"You are amazing!"
"You saved my life."
"How can I ever repay you?" "I wouldn't be alive if it weren't for you."
"I'm going to name my firstborn after you."
"I just can't believe it!"
"I wish someone had told me about chiropractic before."

Thankfully, the majority of patients are quite appreciative. Their willingness to express it is a small down payment for putting up with the bias, prejudice and misunderstandings because you chose the hard, narrow, difficult path called chiropractic.

The dopamine hit can be quite exhilarating. And like any other addiction, it might become something you seek out. Even live for. It's so easy to be seduced, seeing yourself as the source rather than a facilitator; the vessel rather than a conduit.
