Monday Morning Motivation | Suppressing Curiosity

There’s nothing quite as joyous and fulfilling as having a problem to solve.

Seeking comfort leads to boredom and feeling stuck.

The solution?

Curiosity.

Those who find practice tedious or boring have quieted their curiosity. It’s how to look past the multitude of problems that surround us:

The project that takes too long or doesn’t hold the promise of instant gratification.

The opportunity that requires learning a new skill and temporarily feeling incompetent.

The toleration that would necessitate a difficult or awkward conversation.

When we suppress our curiosity, we lose sight of the awe-inspiring world around us. We trade gratitude for arrogant entitlement. We’ve lost the trail in the pursuit of our high and noble purpose.

Reminds me of the Kennedy speech 60 years ago: “We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard.”
