Monday Morning Motivation | Stealing the Limelight
Posted by Bill Esteb on Feb 1st 2025
You’re in your practice, doing your thing.
It’s easy to forget that for patients, coming to see you is well, an imposition—an interruption to their life. However, for you, their presence is practically the very meaning of life!
Careful that you’re not tempted to tell a joke, share a humorous anecdote, or hog the conversation in some way, large or small, stealing the limelight from them.
Consider that every patient has forsaken other demands on their time, money, and attention to spend it with you, and you may seek other ways of getting affirmation.
Sure, it’s your practice. Your loans. Your overhead. Your everything. Most patients won’t fault you for being the star.
Which is one reason you shouldn’t.
Appreciate the significance of what their continued presence means. They’re receiving some type of benefit—whether relief, hope, or encouragement. Show up generous by making it about them, not you.
