Monday Morning Motivation | Interested or Committed?

How many of your patients are interested in better health?

Author Kenneth Blanchard observed that “There’s a difference between interest and commitment. When you’re interested, you do it only when it’s convenient. When you’re committed, you accept no excuses; only results.”

Patients with poor body awareness are often merely interested.

Patients who need to be reminded of their appointments are merely interested.

Patients who see themselves as victims are merely interested.

But those who are committed are often enthusiastic partners. They look forward to their visits. They see care in your practice as an investment, not a cost. Rather than just relief, they seek health, performance, or vitality.

There’s no sure-fire way to determine if your next new patient is interested or committed. Only time will tell. The key is to avoid thinking that the difference is due entirely to something you say or do—or don’t say or do.
