Monday Morning Motivation | From Offense to Defense
Posted by Bill Esteb on Oct 25th 2025
After years of striving to reach a level of success, it’s easy to shift from offense to defense. From creating to conserving.
The shift is subtle. We start protecting what we have instead of pursuing why we started.
The result?
Comfort becomes the goal. Personal and professional growth take a back seat.
Watch for these common warning signs:
Disconnection. You’re physically present but mentally elsewhere, whether at the lake, at home, anywhere but here. Passion fades, replaced by routine.
Entitlement. Patients become problems rather than opportunities. The pleasure of serving gives way to irritation and weariness.
Joylessness. In chasing comfort, we lose the soul satisfaction that comes from contribution and connection.
When purpose drifts, we trade fulfillment for fleeting pleasure. It’s a poor exchange: comfort instead of calling, safety instead of significance.
Remember, the only way to coast, is downhill.
Reclaim the offense. Reignite your purpose. It’s where joy lives.
