Monday Morning Motivation | Five Practice Disorders
Posted by Bill Esteb on Sep 21st 2025
Five different, yet related, disorders that can constrain chiropractic practices:
Coasting – You’ve paid your dues and earned a season of ease. But coasting only works in one direction—downhill. Momentum fades without fresh effort.
Playing defense – A new mortgage or growing family can shift your focus from building the practice to protecting it. You can’t win by playing defense.
Phoning it in – Often a sign of burnout, the emotional disengagement is noticed first by team members, then eventually patients.
Playing to play – Instead of playing to win, entitlement can creep in. Gratitude wanes, and with it, the joy of serving.
Going through the motions – Sometimes mistaken for laziness, this is often a sign you’ve lost touch with the story that originally inspired you to serve. Growth stalls when purpose fades.
Thankfully, each can be reversed—first by acknowledging it, naming it, and addressing the underlying cause with courage and intention.
