Monday Morning Motivation | Desire and Discipline

With fresh goals for the New Year, consider these observations for ending the self-condemnation if you’re a great starter but poor finisher:
Desire – How badly do you want it?
Make sure that whatever you seek to accomplish is worthy of your time and attention. Is it noble? Will it serve others? Do you have a clear picture of what completion looks like? Feels like? Install mnemonics to keep your goal front and center.
Expect friction and resistance. It means you’re up to something.
Discipline – Will you honor your word?
Being able to delay gratification is important, but honoring your word, is even more valuable. Will you persevere when no one is looking? Or are you playing to the crowd? Are you hoping your good intentions will be sufficient to impress?
Ultimately, this is about self-esteem. The only way to raise it is to take on something difficult—and achieve it.
