Monday Morning Motivation | Being a Professional

Part of being a respected professional is having the wisdom to render objective advice and guidance.
What can compromise this trust and proper detachment are some human shortcomings we ask professionals to rise above:
Projection – When a professional assumes that patients value what he or she values, it can lead to an unhelpful disconnect in which patients rightly assume “you’re not listening!”
Selfishness – When patients are seen as a way to solve your needs, a professional has made the shift from serving, to being served. Many patients can detect this subtle vibe. The common effect? Poor retention and fewer referrals—even after getting great results.
Acceptance – When patients consult a licensed professional, they assume that he or she has the maturity to compassionately tell the truth, without the need to be liked or a personal gain from the recommendations.
Being a professional is a tough gig.
Thanks for being one.
