Monday Morning Motivation | Entitlement and Unworthiness

Right up there alongside arrogance as a practice killer is entitlement. It’s an attitude I often see expressed by some of the newest chiropractors.
It’s helpful to be reminded that practicing chiropractic is a privilege, not a right. The risk, time, attention and financial investment entitle you to absolutely nothing. The license is merely an admission ticket into the arena, not a guarantee.
Equally common, but at the opposite end of the spectrum, are feelings of unworthiness and low self esteem. When we fail to place a proper value on our talent and contributions we risk showing up as an impostor and are unable to graciously accept praise or appreciation. Both extremes are distortions and signs of having a lack of ease.
None of us are owed a living or even a living wage. It must be earned by being in service to others. Adding value (as they define it).
