Dear Bill | Neighborhood Survey

Posted by Bill Esteb on Apr 17th 2020

Dear Bill

I'm starting a new practice and planning a survey by going door to door to attract new patients. Could you give me some suggestions for a door-to-door patient survey?

Congratulations on your new practice. And moreover, your willingness to do something that so many new chiropractors think is either beneath them or somehow undoctorly.

If I were just starting out in practice, I think I'd do a neighborhood survey too. Not only is it a way of taking the pulse of the community, it would be a way to introduce myself to the people in my new patient drawing area.

Being familiar is a key asset that grows practices.

You'll get a very limited amount of time from those willing to hear you out. If I had my eye on some space at, say, the Westfall Shopping Plaza, I might say:

"Hi my name is Bill Esteb. I'm a chiropractor and I'm considering opening up my new practice over at the Westfall Shopping Plaza.

"Since I'm new to the area, may I ask you two quick questions about the wisdom of starting my practice at that location?"

If they indicate they're willing to continue, here's what I'd ask:

"Have you ever received chiropractic care?"

"Considering traffic flow, parking and your familiarity with the area, do you think that would that be a good location for a chiropractic office?

"Thank you so much. If I decide to open my office there, may I send an announcement to you?"

Regardless of whether they answer yes or no I'd present them some information about myself. This would include a short biography and a copy of our Answers to the Questions Patients Ask About Chiropractic brochure.

By cluster booking it's something you could do even after you officially opened.

Plan on getting insulted and having doors slammed in your face. Don't let it deter you. It will help you develop the thick skin necessary for success.

Thanks for the question!

Ask Bill your question.
