Monday Morning Motivation | NP Complaint – Privacy
Posted by Bill Esteb on Jul 5th 2025
The 8th most commonly mentioned new patient complaint: Lack of privacy.
Each of us has a different set of privacy sensibilities. Where someone might share intimate details with a stranger on an airplane, others might be far more reserved.
Naturally, this shows up in chiropractic practices.
Limiting the practice to traditional muscular-skeletal conditions invites a different privacy standard than delivering whole-body health care. Nevertheless, privacy concerns were frequently mentioned in these instances:
Overheard personal conversations – flimsy exam room curtains or thin walls lacking sound insulation made some patients feel vulnerable.
When changing – the circumstances when gowning for X-rays or even regular adjustments produced insecurity.
Adjusting room doors – keeping doors ajar (or missing altogether) made some patients feel uncomfortable and on display.
Open adjusting – group adjusting struck many patients as unusual, particularly when they had a different experience previously.
Remember, most patients bring their medical doctor experiences and expectations with them.
